It was a big day on Wednesday for the Pitt football program as they completed one of their most successful recruiting classes in quite a few years.
Pat Narduzzi was able to add 21 new players, including five four-star recruits, to the Pitt program. The biggest storyline for this year’s class was the influx of talent they brought in on the defensive line, headlined by three local standouts Elliot Donald, Dorien Ford and Nahki Johnson.
Pitt’s Class of 2021 started to take take shape well over a year ago when Johnson stepped up and committed to the Panthers back in June of 2019. Considering the talent that was in the WPIAL this year, getting Johnson as their first commitment was a huge factor in the success Pitt was able to have locally.
Pittsburgh Sports Now had a chance to talk with Johnson about his decision to become the ‘leader’ of Pitt’s recruiting class, how other coaches tried to get him to de-commit from Pitt, along with getting the chance to now play on the same team with his long-time friends.
