Report: Rob Harley Leaving For Arkansas State

The Pitt Panthers will have a change on their coaching staff.

Football Scoop.com is reporting that longtime Pitt linebackers coach Rob Harley is leaving to join Butch Jones at Arkansas State. Although no position was specifically named, it’s assumed that Harley will become the new defensive coordinator at Arkansas State.

Harley, who is also Pitt’s Recruiting Coordinator, has been with Pitt since Pat Narduzzi was hired in 2015. This reported departure means that Tim Salem and Andre Powell are the only assistants remaining from Narduzzi’s original staff.

The last change in Pitt’s assistant coaches was the hiring of offensive coordinator Mark Whipple and wide receivers coach Chris Beatty.

Not a big loss. I’d rather see Salem & Whipple leave, but looks like we’re stuck with them. Beatty seems like a no brainer to replace Harley as RC.
