Another key member of the Pitt roster has decided to return for one more season.
Senior linebacker Phil Campbell announced on Wednesday that he’s decided to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility offered by the NCAA and will return to Pitt for the 2021 season.
”I’d like to start off by thanking Coach Narduzzi for giving me the opportunity, time and space to reflect on one of the biggest decisions of my life.
On that note, I’ve decided to utilize the extra year of eligibility and return to my Pitt Panther team for the 2021 season. The decision was not made lightly but I do think it’s the right decision for me at this time.
Campbell released this statement on Twitter:
I’d like to thank my former teammates for the experience shared and wish them well. I would also like to thank my current teammates for patience with me while I pondered this decision. And to my family, thank you for all your support. #H2P”
Campbell’s decision to return means that Pitt will return their top four linebackers next season: Campbell, Cam Bright, Wendell Davis and Sir’Vocea Dennis.
Last season, Campbell registered 41 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. The last two seasons, Campbell has a combined 97 tackles and 10 sacks.
Great! I hope he works on film this off season.
