Pine-Richland Head Coach Eric Kasperowicz Interviewed for Pitt LB Job

Published

One of the biggest names in WPIAL coaching expressed interest in an assistant coaching vacancy at Pitt.

A source has told Pittsburgh Sports Now that Pine-Richland head coach Eric Kasperowicz recently interviewed for the linebackers coach vacancy at Pitt. That opening was created when Rob Harley left for the defensive coordinator position at Arkansas State.

Despite interviewing with Pat Narduzzi, PSN has been told that Kasperowicz will not be getting the position.

Kasperowicz would have given Pitt a former alumni on their staff as he played both safety and linebacker for Pitt from 1995-97. The issue of having a former Pitt Panther and someone with ties to the WPIAL was brought up in a column recently here on Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Kasperowicz has been the head coach at Pine-Richland since 2013 and has led that program to tremendous success, including winning the WPIAL Class-5A and PIAA State Championships this past season and has produced many Division-I and Power Five recruits with the Rams program.

Expect someone from the south, preferably Florida for the job. It’s just the numbers. Once manufacturing crumbled, the recruiting pool shrank.
