Pitt Staying In Contact With Central Catholic 2022 DT Donovan Hinish

Pat Narduzzi and his staff are continuing to stay in steady contact with one of the areas top players for the Class of 2022.

Central Catholic 2022 defensive tackle Donovan Hinish (6-foot-2, 270 pounds) is an intriguing prospect that the Panthers program would like to add to the talented depth they’re stacking on their defensive line. At this stage, Hinish holds offers from Pitt, Notre Dame and recently added one from Toledo.

Because of the built-in tie to the Notre Dame program with his brother Kurt, the prevailing thought is that Donovan is a lock to join his older brother in South Bend. But the Pitt coaching staff isn’t assuming anything and are doing their best to convince him to stay home and start his own legacy at Pitt.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke with on Sunday evening and he told us he’s been talking regularly with members of the Pitt staff since receiving their scholarship offer.

“My talks with Pitt have been steady, as I’ve been both texting and talking with both Coach Sanders and Coach Narduzzi,” said Hinish. “The texts have been a lot just to stay in touch and to see what’s going on. I talk to Coach Sanders a lot. We were recently talking about our dogs, and he has a little puppy that he was showing me. These talks have been good and have helped us to get to know each other a little better.

“Coach Sanders seems like a really nice guy. Every time I’ve talked with him I’ve enjoyed it, it just seems like he’s a super nice guy. He seems very respectful and just a really good guy. I really like him a lot.”

Aside from getting to know each other personally, Pitt has also been trying to show Hinish where he would fit in on their defensive line and how their scheme fits his skill set.

“One day I Face-Timed Coach Sanders and Coach Narduzzi and reads and schemes on the defensive line, what they do and talked about film study.”

I asked Hinish about the level of communication between the staffs at Pitt and Notre Dame and he said it’s pretty much been the same in terms of volume of conversations. As far as where he is in terms of his recruitment and if he could be making a decision in the near future?

“Right now, there’s no set date for me to commit or anything,” said Hinish. “I plan on just playing this out and see what happens and then come to a decision one of these days.”
