Following his outstanding performance against Syracuse, Pitt sophomore forward Justin Champagnie has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week.
Champagnie returned from a knee injury that’s sideline him since December 20 and scored 24 points and 16 rebounds, which paced the Panthers to a 96-76 win.
Pitt Wing Justin Champagnie Returns vs. Syracuse
This is the second timeĀ this season that Champagnie has received this honor, which is the first time since Michael Young in 2016-17 that a Panther player has accomplished that feat.
Champagnie didn’t make any of the ACC Preseason Teams and is showing the voters that they made a mistake. This season, the Brooklyn, NY native is averaging 18.7 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, which makes him currently the only player in the NCAA averaging at least 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Champagnie will look to build upon his impressive season Tuesday night when Pitt hosts Duke. Tipoff from The Pete is at 9 PM and the game will be televised on ESPN.
