The Pitt coaching staff is in the process of scouting a myriad of talented 2022 prospects.  A player that’s landed on their radar is 6-foot-5-inch, 210-pound wide receiver / tight end Chris Corbo from West Essex High School in North Caldwell, NJ.

“I received a Twitter message from Pitt’s tight ends coach Tim Salem. We interacted several times,” stated Corbo. “I was excited to hear from him. Pitt is definitely a school that interests me.”

Corbo has been a two-year starter for West Essex High School as he’s started on both sides of the ball. Chris registered 16 receptions for 245 yards (15.3 average) as a receiver and accumulated 59 tackles and 3 interceptions from his free safety position. Corbo has primarily played wide receiver on offense but he has the frame to grow into a tight end on the next level.

“I would say that my primary position is receiver. It really does depend on where I go,” said Corban. “Some see me as a wide receiver while others are recruiting me as a tight end. I’m not the fastest receiver but its something I’m working to improve.”

When asked about his strengths on the football field, he stated, “I definitely would say blocking, high pointing the ball in the air, winning those 50-50 jump balls and yards after catch.”

“Recruiting is definitely picking up.  During the season I was talking to a few schools including Rutgers, Lafayette and Lehigh,” he said. “I’m working with a recruiting service and things have really picked up since then. It’s starting to take off.  I’ve had a bunch of schools talk with me. I’m slowly easing into the process.”

Corbo was asked about his thoughts on Pitt.  He stated, “I have always like Pitt. I just like the school, the team, so I’ve watched them. I’ve done my research on them and watched them play for years. I’m a huge college football fan. I love the school and the program.  I’m looking forward to getting to know more about them.”
