The Pitt football program knew this about Chris Beatty and know the rest of the country found about the recruiting skills of the former Panther wide receiver coach.

Rivals.com has listed their Top 25 Recruiters for the Class of 2021 and Beatty was mentioned on that last.

Former Alabama and new Marshall head coach Charles Huff was listed by Rivals as the Recruiter of the Year. Huff was the lead recruiter in Alabama landing four of the top 38 prospects in the country, highlighted by 5-star recruits JC Latham and Dallas Turner.

Thanks in large part to Beatty’s efforts in Virginia, Pitt was able to secure the Rivals No. 23 Team Recruiting Rank, their highest rated class since the heralded 2006 cycle, when Pitt landed names like 4-star cornerback Aaron Berry, 4-star RB Kevin Collier, 4-star athlete Aaron Smith, 4-star TE Nate Byham, 4-star athlete Dorin Dickerson, 4-star DT John Malecki and 4-star OT Jeff Otah.

Beatty lived up to his reputation as a Virginia recruiting guru by reeling in highly recruited running backs, Rodney Hammond and Malik Newton as well as Myles Alston from Virginia Beach and closed things out by flipping 4-star linebacker Naquan Brown from LSU.

Some other names that made this list were Penn State assistant Tim Banks, Jeff Quinn from Notre Dame, former Pitt and current Wisconsin offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph, Clemson’s Brent Venables, North Carolina defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and former Miami assistant and current Utah State defensive coordinator Ephraim Banda.
