The frustration continued last night for the Pitt men’s basketball team as they suffered a one-point loss to the NC State Wolfpack, 74-73.
The loss dropped Pitt’s record to 9-8 overall and 5-7 in the ACC. The Panthers are in the midst of another late-season swoon as they’ve now lost six of their last seven games. Although a handful of these games have done down to the last couple of minutes, the bottom-line is it’s another loss.
A majority of the comments from the Pitt fan base following last night’s game were a mixture of frustration, anger and doubt. For the first time under Jeff Capel, fans are starting to wonder if he’s going to be able to get things done at Pitt.
Our PSN poll question for you is, do you still have faith that Capel is the right fit for Pitt and that he’s the coach for this job?

The Ref’s don’t ever help PITT now that they in the middle of tobacco row.
And they still need a couple good BIG’S…
Johnson now is a marked man for the refs. He needs to understand that their first reaction to any close plays involving him is to call a foul. He still needs to play close defense, but he has to keep his cool or they’ll call the tech to go with the foul call.
Ya its the refs fault .cmon dude
Cant believe this poll is backing Capel. He has not earned any confidence at all.
The stupidity and loss of potential decent big man John Hugley messed up this whole season. Glaring hole at the center position. Wolfpack had a field day. Pitt program can’t catch a break. Johnson better learn how to be under control time is running out. Jeff better recruit faster.
7 technicals in the last 5 games, including Capel. I believe this team is immature or just uncoachable. They are definitely talented but are often their own worst enemy. Turnovers, fouls, bad shot selection. No mental toughness. No discipline. It’s like everyone is playing for themselves. I was so excited with Capel’s hiring. Unfortunately it appears he’s not able to recruit like everyone thought he could and while I think his game planning is good, he hasn’t shown that he’s able to influence players and get his he best out of them. I think you give Capel two more years… Read more »
If anything I thought Pitt was way ahead of schedule at he beginning of the year… Now it seems like they are record wise where the should be in a rebuild or even ahead of it. They had 0 ACC wins not too long ago and the ACC is still the best basketball conference. So 5 ACC wins isn’t too shabby
I think Capel has recruited well. The team has many talented players. I think coaching is an issue. What I see are too many turnovers with over aggressive play and too many uncontested layups. Clean those up and Pitt is in the top 20.
