CLEMSON, S.C. — Pitt has finished in 12th place in the ACC with a 6-10 record in the league play after Saturday’s regular-season ending loss to Clemson.
The Panthers will most likely draw No. 13 Miami in the first round of the ACC Tournament, which is expected to start on Tuesday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
That game will tip off at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from Greensboro Coliseum and be broadcast on ACC Network.
The Panthers and Hurricanes met once this season, a 70-55 Pitt win against a shorthanded Miami squad in Coral Gables on Dec. 16.
The winner of the Pitt-Miami game will move on to play the No. 6 seed — most likely Clemson — on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
Pitt went 1-1 in each of their last ACC Tournament appearances. Before the 2020 tournament was canceled, they beat Wake Forest and lost to NC State. In 2019, Pitt beat Boston College before losing to Syracuse.
Even though Pitt and Miami are locked into those spots, the bracket could change if a team is unable to play in the tournament due to a COVID-19 issue. Virginia Tech missed its final two games of the season after contact tracing.
