The at-large selections join the 266 student-athletes that qualified through their conference tournament finishes over the last two weekends. The at-large selections were made by the NCAA Division I wrestling committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins (defined as wins against wrestlers already in the field), coaches ranking, results against common opponents, conference tournament placement and winning percentage. The committee was also able to use subjective criteria such as, but not limited to, historical performance. That complete list of at-large selections can be found here.

Harvey, (6-6) on the year, becomes a two-time NCAA qualifier after earning an at-large bid. The Boyertown, Pennsylvania native’s bid comes after a solid showing at the ACC Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina on Feb. 28. In Raleigh, Harvey avenged his dual loss to Virginia Michael Battista before giving top-seed Hunter Bolen from Virginia Tech all he could handle in a match that Harvey dictated, but lost narrowly, 3-2 .

Harvey then advanced to the third-place match with a major decision over Duke’s Vincent Baker before suffering a defeat to North Carolina’s Devin Kane. The team captain ended ACCs with a fourth-place finish.

Harvey will be joined in St. Louis by teammates Micky Phillippi (133), Cole Matthews (141), Jake Wentzel (165), and Nino Bonaccorsi (197). The complete seeding list and brackets will be revealed during the NCAA wrestling selection show broadcast online (NCAA.com) on Wednesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. ET. The first round of competition starts at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18.

In case you missed it,  Pittsburgh Sports Now put together  a feature on Harvey earlier this season. You can read the full story, from Jan. 21, here.
