“I first started getting recruited to Pitt by Coach Beatty during quarantine,” Montgomery told PSN. “Coach Beatty used to coach at Game Academy down here in Virginia and I work out there now which probably led to me getting interest and the offer from Pitt. I was talking Coach Beatty on a once a week basis until he left to go to the NFL.”

“After Coach Beatty left, I started to talk with Coach Borbely and I actually talk now to him twice a week. I’ve come to find out that Coach Borbely is a great guy and we talk about more things than just football. Actually, last time we talked, we were talking about the Grammy’s. My parents were also talking with us and it was a really good conversation. Getting to talk about things more than just football is a breath of fresh air because you really get to know their personality and the way they think. It’s nice to hear more than our school is known for this, this and that and we’ve done this, this and that.”

As previously listed, Montgomery has an impressive list of schools actively recruiting him. Why did he choose to make one of his five official visits to Pitt?

“Honestly, one of the biggest things is that I’ve heard so many good things about Pitt that I wanted to needed to go there and see for myself,” said Montgomery. “Also, I really want to go visit the Cathedral of Learning, that looks like a really cool place. Plus, I really have a good relationship with Coach Borbely. They were the first place to ask me to come for an official visit so this is the next step.

“Now that I’ll be starting official visits, my recruitment is starting to feel more real now. Getting to go to a talk with coaches and seeing a campus is exciting instead of just talking on a phone or thru a Zoom Call. I’ll now have a chance to see things in person and get a feel for whether I can see myself going there.”

Montgomery told PSN that along with Pitt, he plans on making other official visits to Maryland and Indiana. He also wants to head down to Florida State for one of their events their planning for top recruits. He’s not sure at this point whether or not that will be an official or unofficial visit.
