Dom Errico, Duquesne PA Announcer, Dies at 42

Duquesne basketball public address announcer Dom Errico died on Thursday after a months-long battle with COVID-19, his family confirmed to Pittsburgh Sports Now. Errico had been hospitalized while fighting the disease since Jan. 25. He leaves behind his wife, Libbie, and two young sons.

A GoFundMe page has been established to benefit Errico’s family.

Errico, 42, was an alumnus of Deer Lakes High School and the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. He worked as a voice over artist and public address announcer for various events and companies in Pittsburgh, including Duquesne, TribLIVE Radio, the Pittsburgh Power Arena Football League team and the ABA’s Steel City Yellow Jackets.

Errico had been with Duquesne since 2014, and he worked football, lacrosse, volleyball and soccer matches in addition to basketball games for the Dukes. In 2019, he announced his 500th game for Duquesne.

“I think Dom is a great guy who has established an identity as being the voice of Duquesne,” Duquesne women’s basketball coach Dan Burt told PSN after Errico’s milestone. “That’s been because of his consistency, work ethic and love for doing what he does.”

Errico continued to work Duquesne and other games this season through the pandemic. His last men’s basketball game for Duquesne occurred Jan. 20.
