Since former First Love (PA) and USF guard David Collins entered the transfer portal, one of the local schools is trying to bring him back home to the Pittsburgh area.
Keith Dambrot and Duquesne have been pursuing the Youngstown, Ohio native very hard and Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that they hosted a zoom meeting with him and his mother on Wednesday evening.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Collins has excellent size for a guard and can elevate over smaller guards to get his shot off. This season, he scored 12.5 points per game, grabbed 3.5 rebounds per contest and shot 42% from the field this season to go along with a solid 37% from 3-point range. His best game came against Temple, when he made nine of his 19 shots en route to a season-high 23 points.
Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!
His best season came in 2018-19 when he averaged 15.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Collins shot 42% from the field this season to go along with a solid 37% from 3-point range.
He was initially recruited by Duquesne back in 2017, and is now once again being pursued by the Dukes. Collins is also being prioritized by Cincinnati as well as Kansas State, both of which have had zoom calls with him in recent days.
