Former Marshall Point Guard Jarrod West Commits to Louisville

Published

on

On Wednesday, Marshall transfer Jarrod West chose to commit to a school in the ACC but it wasn’t Pitt, as the senior guard picked Louisville.

Capel and his staff recruited him hard as West told us that he’d heard from a member of the Pitt staff daily since entering the portal.

In this past season at Marshall, he scored 12.5 points per game while also dishing out six assists per contest. West also posted career-highs in both field-goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage, shooting at 45.8% and 40.8% marks, respectively.

This news means that Pitt’s search for a veteran point guard continues, with one of their top targets still a possibility.

Florida International transfer Antonio Daye has yet to make his decision and he was actually one of the first guards that Capel contacted a few weeks ago.

Pitt is also pursuing forward Nate Santos in the class of 2021, who recently told PSN that he would be making his decision soon.

He is in”capel”able in getting anyone to come to Pitt. We hear about all of these 4 & 5 star caliber players that he’s targeting and they all go elsewhere.

Can’t get, can’t develop, can’t keep. He’s Jamie 2.0 except he didn’t have a great HC as his predecessor.

Pitt does not pay the “BAG”. So we get no players that are on the fence to go anywhere. Why don’t you think that we get no 5’s and good transfers in. White elephant in the room folks.

I really doubt there is much of a bagman for a guy like West. Not dogging West at all, wish him well except the nights he plays Pitt. Just a 4 year guy averaging 12 a game whose undersized, I highly doubt has a shoe deal waiting for him. That doesn’t change the fact that we’ve been hearing over and over, Pitt loses out to another school.

A few of the high end guys I would agree with you. If you aren’t paying the bag, probably not getting the player.
