Former Pitt guard Gabbie Green is taking her talents down south to Louisiana Tech, where she will play as a graduate transfer.

This past season, Green served as a senior leader on a relatively young Pitt team. Over the course of the Panthers’ 17 games, Green averaged 5.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.Green started in all 31 games during her junior year campaign. Her marksmanship behind the arc was apparent to all after she set a program record with 60 made 3-pointers throughout the season. She recorded double figures 14 times that year as well.

Perhaps the highlight of this past season was her 20-point effort in the team’s loss to nationally ranked Louisville on Feb. 18. Her role on the team was then limited during the final handful of games due to an injury suffered late in the first quarter against Notre Dame. Green heads to Louisiana Tech after posting career averages of 8.3 points, 1 assist and 2.8 rebounds per game as a Panther.

She came to Pitt after playing for two years at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, her home state. Green started in 58 of 65 games while at South Plains and racked up numerous honors within the NJCAA and WBCA during her sophomore season.

Pitt head coach Lance White said following Pitt’s season-ending loss in the ACC Tournament that he expected Green to finish her collegiate career closer to her home in Texas.

Brooke Stoehr of Louisiana Tech released the following statement about the team’s addition of Green:

“We are thrilled to have Gabbie join the Lady Techster family. We enjoyed getting to know her through the recruiting process coming out of the South Plains and know she will be a great fit within our program and on campus. It has been exciting to reconnect and see her growth on and off the court and to see the impact she had on the Pitt program.”
