On Tuesday, the Pitt staff received more tough news as one of its top priorities in the transfer portal, Jayden Gardner, released his final schools list which did not include the Panthers.
Gardner is a 6-foot-7 forward from East Carolina who averaged 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season. In his three-year Pirates career, he scored over 1400 points and grabbed over 700 rebounds in total.
While Gardner only knew Pitt assistant coach Milan Brown just over a week ago, he did zoom with the entire staff on Friday night, getting a chance to see what the program and head coach Jeff Capel had to offer.
However, when he released his top five schools list on Tuesday night via Twitter, Pitt had not made the cut. Gardner narrowed his list down to LSU, Arkansas, Virginia, NC State, and Miami, a list including three ACC programs. While Pitt fans will not be seeing Gardner in the blue and gold, they may see him take on the Panthers for one of those in-conference opponents.
Is Capel going to get anyone?
Does he have anymore brothers he can hire as an asst. Maybe he might be able to sign him.
Lack of recruiting is gonna be his downfall. Pitt fans are tired of this, he needs to come thru in a big way. 3* recruits is not gonna cut it in the ACC unless you find a lot of Justin Champignie’s.
