Pitt has landed the commitment of Class of 2022 Central Valley defensive lineman Sean FitzSimmons, he announced on Friday.

FitzSimmons is the third player to commit to Pat Narduzzi in the Class of 2022 and the first local player to give his pledge to the Panthers.

A 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive lineman, FitzSimmons is rated as a consensus three-star recruit, the No. 21 player in the state and fourth-best player in Southwestern Pa.

FitzSimmons won a state title with the Warriors in 2020, capping a 12-0 season with a 35-21 win over Wyomissing at Hersheypark Stadium on Nov. 27. Central Valley beat Elizabeth Forward 35-0 to win the WPIAL Class-3A championship on Nov. 13, the Warriors’ second consecutive WPIAL title.

He joins Mansfied, Ohio defensive back Aveon Grose and Smyrna, Delaware defensive tackle Elijah Statham in Pitt’s Class of 2022.

FitzSimmons is the first local player in the Class of 2022 to give his commitment and continues a recent trend of local defensive linemen picking the Panthers. Pitt earned commitment from 2021 defensive linemen Elliot Donald (Central Catholic), Dorien Ford (Baldwin) and Nahki Johnson (West Mifflin) and 2020 defensive lineman Dayon Hayes (Westinghouse).
