The Pitt women’s basketball team has secured some veteran experience in its frontcourt after Youngstown State grad transfer Mary Dunn announced her commitment to the Panthers on Twitter.

The Washington, PA, native donned the red and white of YSU for five seasons, accumulating a total of 114 games played during that time. Dunn is a consistent scoring threat, with her career averages sitting at 11.4 points per game on a 53.2% career shooting mark.

Dunn also started in 65 games throughout her time as a Penguin, including 17 starts in 18 games during the 2020-21 season. Over the course of those 18 contests, she registered averages of 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Her honors on the court are impressive, as she was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year after racking up four Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors during the 2016-17 season. After a strong junior season, Dunn was named Sixth Player of the year by the Horizon League and found herself with First-Team All-Horizon League honors. Dunn eclipsed the 1,000 point mark during her senior season but later received a medical redshirt after a knee injury.

Dunn was instrumental in leading Trinity High School to its first WPIAL Championship Game and now has the chance to replicate that success with Pitt. She announced that she would enter the transfer portal back on March 12.

Her commitment to the Panthers comes a week after veteran guard Gabbie Green committed to Louisiana Tech for her final season of eligibility.
