RMU Announces Fall 2021 Non-Conference Football Schedule, Won’t Face Duquesne

While the RMU football team has a handful of games left on its spring schedule, the team’s fall slate is already starting to take form after three non-conference games were confirmed earlier today.

RMU is set to open the season with a road trip on Sept. 4 against a familiar foe, Dayton. The two schools are longtime opponents, but Dayton has held a significant edge for the better half of a decade, going 13-1 against the Colonials since 2006.

In February, it was announced that the Colonials were traveling to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for a game against the Central Michigan Chippewas. That game will officially be on Sept. 11, per the announcement on Friday.

The Colonials’ lone home game of their non-conference schedule will pit them against the Howard Bison on Sept. 25. That affair will be the first time the two programs meet on the gridiron.

There are currently eight Big South conference games scheduled, but no opponents have been announced in regards to those matchups at this time.

Robert Morris will not face Duquesne for the second straight season. The rivals were scheduled to play in 2020, even after the Colonials departed the Northeast Conference for the Big South, but the game was not re-scheduled after the fall 2020 FCS season was moved to the spring of 2021. RMU won the last meeting between the two local FCS teams in 2019.

This season’s Big South schedule rolls on for the Colonials on Saturday when they take on Charleston Southern, which is also seeking its first win of the season. That game will be available on ESPN+ and begin at noon.
