The vast majority of offers from Pitt over the last month have gone to players in the Classes of 2023 and 2024 but that changed last night.

Chris Graves is a talented 2022 three-star cornerback from Fort Myers, Florida and after talking with Cory Sanders, Graves found out his latest offer was from Pitt. Graves (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) has a long list of offers from programs such as Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa State, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech, UCF and West Virginia.

Graves officially received the offer from Pitt on Tuesday, but he told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he’s been hearing from members of the Pitt staff for quite some time.

“Getting the offer was good because Pitt is a top school,” said Graves. “I first started hearing from and talking with Pitt back when Coach Harley was there. He was talking to me last year but Coach Sanders recently hit me up and offered me on the spot. He said he would’ve offered me earlier but he just started recruiting my area. He told me that he really liked my size and speed and how I can track down the ball.”

“I believe my biggest strengths are my speed on the field, along with the length I bring to the position. You don’t see a lot of defensive backs with my size that can run like me. I’m a physical player that is also a bit cocky on the field because I know I can play and can do it. I bring swag to the position.”

Graves told PSN that while his recruitment is still open and doesn’t have any favorites, he does have a few official visits lined up.

“Mostly every school is trying to get me to come make an official visit,” said Graves. “The schools that are hitting me up the most are LSU, South Florida, Ole Miss, Miami. I have official visits set with South Florida, Miami and South Carolina.”

Graves has two official visit spots left, what will Pitt and other schools have to do make an impression on him to secure one of those remaining spots?

“They have to show that they really want me and stay on top of me. They can’t just text me once a week and expect me to consider the school. They really have to show interest and stay on top of me and build that relationship.”
