RMU Football Announces Big South Opponents, Completes Fall Schedule

Published

After playing a sample size of Big South games during the spring season, the Robert Morris football team has announced its conference opponents for the fall. The announcement comes shortly after the team confirmed its non-conference games, which did not include a showdown with Duquesne.

As for the conference slate, RMU begins Big South play on the road in Greensboro, North Carolina, against recent Big South addition North Carolina A&T on Oct. 2. The Colonials return home a week later for their second meeting with Charleston Southern as conference foes. These two teams recently met under two weeks ago, with the Buccaneers topping RMU by a score of 27-14.

Robert Morris remains busy throughout the rest of October, competing in back-to-back road games against North Alabama on Oct. 16 and Gardner-Webb on Oct. 23. Following the dueling road trips, the Colonials play their fifth game of the month on Oct. 30 against Hampton.

The game against Hampton serves as the lead-in for the team’s only homestand, with Kennesaw State visiting Joe Walton Stadium on Nov. 6. Following that game against the Owls, RMU visits New Jersey to tangle with Monmouth on Nov. 13. The two sides were supposed to play this season, but that never came to fruition due to a postponement and a cancelation. RMU concludes its regular season a week later against Campbell on Nov 20.

One thing to note about this schedule is that RMU will play all eight Big South games without any breaks, as there are no scheduled bye weeks during their run of conference games. Both the conference and RMU are hoping for better luck from a COVID-19 standpoint as well after there were multiple changes made to the already shortened spring season due to the virus.
