According to sources close to Pittsburgh Sports Now, the Pitt basketball staff has its eyes set on another prospect in the transfer portal that it had previously recruited out of high school.
The prospect is Henry Coleman, a former four-star recruit who just finished up his first season with the Duke Blue Devils. He is a 6-foot-7, 229-pound forward who appeared in 19 games for coach Mike Krzyzewski’s squad, averaging just five minutes per game in his freshman season. He played a small role off the bench, struggling to find playing time and averaging just 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
According to the source, Pitt is pursuing Coleman at the moment and is trying to schedule a zoom meeting with him. We are also hearing that VCU and Virginia Tech are pursuing the Richmond, Virginia native very heavily. Prior to committing to Duke, Coleman held an offer from Pitt and even took a visit to the Pitt-Penn State football game.
Per basketball Yoda @coreyevans_10, Jeff Capel and staff will host nationally ranked prospects Ethan Morton, Henry Coleman, Hunter Dickinson and Will Jeffress along with John Hugley and AJ Williams this weekend. #ZooEra#Pitt
While Coleman will undoubtedly be a tough recruit to land for Pitt due to the home-state schools’ hard pursuits, Jeff Capel and his staff are also going after the former four star aggressively and should make this an interesting recruiting battle.
