Rodney Gallagher Recaps Weekend Tournament Win, Updates Recruitment

When it comes to Pitt football and basketball history, not many prospects have ever been recruited by both programs at the same time. However, there is one, Rodney Gallagher, who is currently being pursued by both Jeff Capel and Pat Narduzzi.

Gallagher spent the past weekend playing with Team Durant’s 16U squad at the Pitt Jamfest in the Pittsburgh area, coming home with some hardware and new recruiting interest on top of it.

“I did very well making a name for myself this weekend,” Gallagher told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “My team played very well, and we are trying to prove everybody wrong that is doubting us. We had a great performance this weekend, winning the tournament.”

Gallagher told PSN that after his performance this weekend, he has received new interest from Stanford and West Virginia, as well as an offer from Florida.

“It is a big offer,” Gallagher said. “SEC. It was surprising to me, out of nowhere.”

Gallagher is a 6-foot point guard in basketball and plays all over the field in football. When talking with PSN on Monday, he once again confirmed that his plan is still to play both basketball and football in college.

While he still has two full years left of high school, Gallagher’s recruitment is already starting to heat up with high major offers in both sports.
