For the second consecutive season, a cornerback from Pitt gets selected in the NFL Draft.
Last season, Dane Jackson was drafted in the 7th Round by the Buffalo Bills and now Jason Pinnock hears his name called in the 5th Round by the NY Jets.
Pinnock impressed many at Pitt Pro Day and with his body of work over his entire career at Pitt. In 3 seasons, Pinnock played in a total of 33 games and made 19 starts. In his Pitt career, the native of Connecticut recorded 54 tackles, 25 pass breakups and 6 interceptions.
With his 6-foot, 204 pound frame, Pinnock definitely has the size and physicality to play in the NFL, the question he’ll have to answer is does he have the speed.
Pinnock getting drafted this high is a feather in the cap for Pat Narduzzi, Archie Collins and the Pitt program. Pinnock is now the 3rd Panther selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
If Pitt’s going to continue to play man every play, they really need to work on speed. Does anyone else notice the Pitt pro day showed an extreme slow team?
