Report: Ronald Ramon Leaving Pitt To Join Fordham As An Assistant Coach

Published

Ronald Ramon is heading back home.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is reporting that Ramon is leaving Pitt to accept an assistant coaching position with new Fordham head coach Kyle Neptune. This will be the first on-court coaching job of Ramon’s career.

Ramon was hired by Jeff Capel back in 2019 as the Pitt assistant director of basketball operations. That job consisted of helping the coaching staff with recruiting visit logistics, alumni engagements and community service activities.

The former Pitt 3-point specialist is from the Bronx, New York so his ties to the New York area will be of assistance to Neptune as he attempts to dip into the deep talent base of New York City.

Ramon finished his Pitt career with 1,096 points and remains in the top 10 at Pitt in career three-point field goals (4th with 233), three-point percentage (7th- .395) and assist to turnover ratio (5th – 2.04:1).

Sorry to hear, as Pitt desperately needs ties back to when we were good.
Capel should have gotten rid of one his asst’s and put Ronald in that role.
Like maybe his brother.
