On Wednesday, former Pitt basketball star and NBA First Round Pick Eric Mobley died at the age of 51.

Mobley was a three-year player at Pitt, scoring 900 points and grabbing 599 rebounds in his career with the Panthers. He increased his scoring and rebounding averages every season, including averaging 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in his 1993-94 All Big East season.

A Bronx, New York native, Mobley went on to the NBA after his three years at Pitt, getting drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 18th overall pick in the 1994 draft. He played three seasons in the league including a stint with the Vancouver Grizzlies after playing for the Bucks.
Mobley’s former high school announced on Twitter that his cause of death was cancer.
