Spearheaded by Archie Collins, Pitt’s recruiting in Georgia over the last two recruiting classes has netted them five players.

Last year, Pitt signed three-star LB Preston Lavant and four-star CB Khalil Anderson. Back in their Class of 2020, four-star CB Rashad Battle, three-star WR Jaylon Barden and three-star CB Hunter Sellers signed with the Panthers.

Collins is back in The Peach State looking to add another talented defensive back to his secondary.

2021 3-star cornerback Ryland Gandy (Buford, Georgia) wrapped up his official visit on Saturday to Pitt.

Getting this 6-foot cornerback on campus was no easy feat as Gandy held offers from programs such as Notre Dame, Penn State, North Carolina, USC, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Michigan State, Cincinnati and Arkansas.

“Overall everything I experienced was amazing,” said Gandy. “The city is beautiful, the school is great, there’s not much you can say about Pitt that’s bad.”

”What stood out to me the most was how everyone was very welcoming. The whole staff and players greeted my family and I with respect and were very excited to have me there. Nothing really surprised me, it was more of a finally type feeling. Through zooms and text messages I saw the campus and facilities. It was just great to finally see it in person and see what it’s all actually about.”

“All the coaches were great to talk to. I spoke to all of them throughout the trip and it was easy to have conversation with them,” said Gandy. “Not only coaches on the defensive side of the ball but also on offense. They all have great personalities and if I ever had a problem I feel like I could talk to them about anything.”

As we’ll ask all players that visited, did Gandy have any thoughts about giving Pitt a commitment this weekend?

“Pitt is definitely a top school in my recruiting. There is consideration of committing but I will talk to my family see what I should do next and go from there.”
