Pitt Adds to Collection of Florida Running Backs

Published

The Pitt Panthers already have a number of running backs hailing from Florida on the roster, but that group expanded even further on Saturday when Jordaan Bailey, a three-star recruit out of Tampa, Fla., announced his commitment to the program.

Bailey joins redshirt sophomore Daniel Carter from Margate, junior Vincent Davis from Fort Lauderdale, and redshirt senior A.J. Davis Jr. from Lakeland in the group of Sunshine State natives in the backfield.

Last season, Vincent Davis led the Panthers in rushing yards with 632, and added 6 touchdowns on the ground. The 5-foot-8 tailback also caught 24 passes for 154 yards and a score.

A.J. Davis totaled 266 yards, good enough for second on the team, and a score on 61 carries. He added 10 catches and 45 receiving yards.

Through Pitt’s deep core of running backs, Carter saw time last season as well, putting up 64 yards and a touchdown of his own on the ground.

With a plethora of options at running back and no clear number one, any one of these three could see significant touches in the coming season, and Bailey will only provide more options when he joins in 2022.
