Before committing to Pitt, Bailey had received offers from Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Colorado State, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Toledo, USF, West Virginia and Western Kentucky. Pitt was Bailey’s first Power Five offer, back on Feb. 26. Cory Sanders was the Pitt coach that first contacted Bailey.

“Pitt is a great school and it feels like a family,” Bailey told Pittsburgh Sports Now before his visit. “Their head coach is a great man with a bunch of energy. The coaches love their players and they tell the truth. I know for a fact that it’s a great Division-I school that plays great football.”

Bailey also mentioned the family atmosphere of the program and the fact that Pitt coaches have been recruiting him for three years as reasons he was excited to visit Pitt.

Bailey is the fifth player to commit to the Panthers for 2022 and the first offensive player. He’ll join Ohio safety Aveon Grose, Central Valley defensive tackle Sean Fitzsimmons, Delaware defensive tackle Elijah Statham and Australian punter Sam Vander Haar in the Panthers’ Class of 2022.

Bailey’s commitment is the first since the Panthers began hosting recruits for official and unofficial visits on June 1 with the lifting of NCAA pandemic restrictions. Pitt has hosted more than two dozen players on campus in total since the ban was lifted, with large groups of players in town for official visits on consecutive weekends.
