On Sunday, Pitt held its second prospect camp of the summer. On Tuesday, Class of 2023 West Allegheny defensive back Nodin Tracy discussed his experience at the camp with Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Tracy was able to develop a connection with some of Pitt’s players rather quickly.

“Sticking out mostly was just the environment, I mean I’ve been down there a lot, but it was just how the players were into it, the Pitt players were, just conversing with us and everything. I think the energy was probably what stuck out the most. They said they really liked me. Coach Sanders was just talking to the about me and they were just dapping me up after my reps or anything. I just talked to some of them, a lot of the Florida dudes. So I just talked to them a lot, trying to get to know them.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect also outlined the drills that were run and what the takeaways were for coaches.

“When we were doing them, I was seeing that they were just trying to see how are feet were moving, so we went to doing back peddles and our hips opening up, just seeing how we react to stuff. And then with balls, high-ball placement, like if you’re jumping late or jumping on time, cause that’s either a pick or a touchdown they were saying. Then, we just did our 40 and shuttles to try and see where our feet’s at and everything. But, yeah, they were just trying to look for these key things that a DB needs to have.”

Above all else, Tracy simply wants to figure out how he compares to his peers of the class through competition and camps like these.

“Being from my hometown, I just like to see that type of stuff. Everyone coming in, just try to showcase what they have. Cause I’ve always wanted to see, I know Pittsburgh is a little bit small, but at the same time I just want to see where I’m at. Just going down to like Texas and stuff, just seeing where’s the competing at and everything. I just like to compete with other people not from my hometown, like a dude from Canada, he was good. I like to see that. I just want to know where I’m basing myself off at.”

Tracy currently holds offers from William & Mary and Bluefield State College.
