All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of Pitt’s 2021 training camp roster.
17 • Davis Beville, redshirt sophomore quarterback
Last year: The 6-foot-6, 235 pound quarterback appeared in six games in 2020, coming off the bench during blowouts against Austin Peay and at the hands of Clemson. He also saw action when starting quarterbacking Kenny Pickett went down with an ankle injury in the middle of the season.
Stats: Beville completed five of 10 passes for 30 yards in his first collegiate action, along with a 10-yard rush.
Camp outlook: Beville slipped behind Arizona transfer Joey Yellen on the depth chart in 2020, but Yellen had a lackluster 2020 season filling in for Pickett. Between those two and Nick Patti, expect a heated camp battle for the No. 2 job. Beville had a strong showing in the spring game, completing all six passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Projected role: With Pickett returning for a fifth-year swan song, Beville will be relegated to a bench role once again, unless there’s another injury.
Accolades, highlights: A three-star recruit, Rivals ranked Beville as the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the nation out of high school.
