The Pitt men’s basketball program has scheduled their season opener for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is reporting that Pitt will open the season by hosting The Citadel on November 9th at The Pete. It’s been previously announced that the Panthers will take on West Virginia in Morgantown on November 12.
The Citadel is a member of the Southern Conference and finished last season with an overall record of 13-12. They opened the season by winning their first eight games before dropping 12 of their last 17 games.
The Citadel will return two of their top three scorers from last season, including leading scorer Hayden Brown who averaged 18.8 points and 10.2 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kaiden Rice, the team’s second leading scorer, transferred to Georgetown during the off-season.
Last season, The Citadel (13-12) finished No. 218 in the KenPom Ratings.
