Top Pitt Target, Four Star Judah Mintz to Announce Commitment on June 18

Just days after taking an official visit to Pitt from June 4-6, Judah Mintz decided that he was ready to make his pick and commit to a school on June 18.

Mintz told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will be announcing his commitment at 3 p.m.

After his official visit to Pitt, Mintz also went on visits to Georgetown and Penn State, and the three schools seem to be the favorites to land him according to most recruiting sites and reporters.Β A Washington, D.C. native, Mintz made the trip up to Pitt with his family and spent the weekend getting to know the coaching staff, touring the facilities, and more.

β€œMy favorite part was meeting the coaches,” Mintz toldΒ Pittsburgh Sports Now after the visit. β€œIt was really nice to see them in person. You get a feel for people over the phone and stuff, but meeting people in person and being able to spend time with them, it’s just a lot different. Their staff is really cool. My family really got along with them.”

Mintz is ranked as the No. 91 player in the nation according to 247 Sports, and the No. 103 player according to Rivals. If he were to commit to Pitt, he would become the first commitment for the program’s 2022 class, which many think is shaping up to be Capel’s best.

β€œGenuine,” was the word Mintz used to describe Capel. β€œI think genuine would be a good word for him. He’s pretty nice. He got along with my family just fine. They liked him, he liked them, so, it was a really good experience meeting him and spending some time with him.”

Sure would be nice to finally beat out Georgetown for a recruit…

The cancelling of the Schifino visit would make sense if he announces Pitt. He originally said late winter to announce his choice – moved it up considerably after Pitt visit.

IF Mintz does become Pitt’s 1st commit(hopefully) for the 2022 class, how would 1 player end up being Capel’s finest class? “Many think is shaping up to be Capel’s best”??? Are there other mystery commitments that we do not know about?
