All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of Pitt’s 2021 training camp roster.
22 • Vincent Davis, junior running back
Last year: Was the number one option at running back, making nine starts in 11 games in his second year as a strong contributor in the backfield.
Stats: Rushed for a team-leading 632 yards and six touchdowns on 143 carries. Davis also racked up 24 receptions for 154 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Camp outlook: In the revolving door of Pitt running backs, Davis is surely the most reliable option when looking back to last season. He had far and away the most touches last year and also led the Blue-Gold game in attempts this spring.
Projected role: Davis should be the starter at the beginning of the season, but there is no clear cut number one as A.J. Davis Jr. and Israel Abanikanda could each impress and breakout at any point.
Accolades, Highlights: His 247 yards against Georgia Tech were the most by a Pitt back since Darin Hall in 2017 and the most by a Pitt sophomore since James Conner in 2014. Davis also had a 74-yard rush in that game, which was Pitt’s longest rush of the year.
Breakout game for @VeeDee_II 👏
