On Thursday afternoon, three-star 2022 prospect Deuce Spurlock, who made an official visit to Pitt last weekend, announced his Top 5 schools, and Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers made the cut. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from Madison Academy narrowed his choices down to Michigan, Mississippi State, Liberty and Appalachian State alongside the Panthers.

“Pitt likes my versatility with how I’m able to play multiple positions,” Spurlock told Pittsburgh Sports Now in May following his offer from Pitt. “I’m not just limited to playing outside linebacker and possibly being able to play safety as well. I think my versatility is something that stood out to them about me and increased my value with them. I believe one of my biggest strengths is my ability to rush off the edge but also having the ability to cover people, which makes me a three down linebacker instead of just a two down backer. I have also shown the ability to move across the field sideline to sideline really well.”
Spurlock’s versatility has already stood out on the field. Last season, he was named to the 2020 Alabama Sportswriters Association All-State Football Team at defensive back and the 2020 All-Huntsville Region First Team as an athlete.
A few notable schools that didn’t make Spurlock’s cut include Boston College, Washington State, Memphis, ans South Florida.
