After being selected in the third round (90th overall) by the Minnesota Vikings, former Pitt defensive end Patrick Jones has officially signed his rookie deal, the team announced via Twitter Monday morning.
Jones was a first-team All-ACC selection and a consensus All-American his senior year. He tallied 44 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery and was a semifinalist for both the Bednarik Award and the Lott Impact Trophy. Jones finished his Pitt career with 22 sacks, which is 12th in school history.
According to Spotrac, Jones’ contract is estimated to be worth over $4.8 million, with a signing bonus upwards of $900,000.
