On Sunday, four-star shooting guard Alphonzo Billups announced his top six schools, which included Pitt.
In addition to Pitt, the 6-foot-7 Richmond, Virginia native will also be considering LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, NC State, and VCU. Billups was offered by Pitt back in March, and Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with him shortly after receiving the offer, which he had wanted for a while.
“Even before the offer, Coach Brown has probably been the most consistent coach in terms of keeping in touch with me and checking on me,” Billups told PSN. “Because of that, I just though that an offer would eventually come. Coach had been telling me that he’s from my area and after watching me, he said he knows what I’m capable of and what I could potentially bring to Pitt, if I decided to go there. He was telling me that he really wanted to build a strong relationship with me and is looking forward to continue recruiting me.”
Billups took a visit to Pitt earlier this offseason, and has also visited NC State during this summer. Pitt will be looking to lock up a commitment from him to add on to its 2022 class that includes four-star guard Judah Mintz.
another Capel teaser, “if I decided I wanted to go there.” “No reason to get excited the thief finally said,” Keep your eyes on the three stars with no major program offers. The 4 and 5’s get a kickback from the Pitt coaches to list Pitt. Makes Capel appear like a top recruiter barely missing out on the top talent. Have to keep him around one year he may get one.
