On the eve of the opening of Pitt football training camp, the Panthers will be a man short at the tight end position.
247Sports is reporting that Daniel Moraga has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Pittsburgh Sports Now reached out to Moraga in order to confirm this report but didn’t hear back from him.
The redshirt senior joined the Panthers last season after arriving from Ventura College (JC) in California. Moraga (6-foot-3, 245 pounds) played in 10 games (starting six) and caught four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. This news seems somewhat surprising considering Moraga appeared to be battling Wright for the backup spot behind Lucas Krull.
With the departure of Moraga, the Pitt tight end depth chart looks like: Krull, Kyi Wright, Grant Carrigan, Gavin Bartholomew and Jake Renda.
