The Steelers have signed former Pitt and Woodland Hills cornerback Lafayette Pitts, the team announced on Friday.

Pitts, 28, spent the 2020 season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound corner also previously spent three seasons with the Bills and one each with the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Pitts has played in 40 career NFL games, making 21 tackles. He has been a special teams contributor.

Pitts was a four-year starter for the Panthers from 2012-15, playing in 111 games and making 144 tackles and four interceptions.

The Steelers waived injured cornerback DeMarkus Acy on Wednesday. Pitts will likely compete with Shakur Brown, Stephen Denmark and Mark Gilbert for a practice squad spot.
