Pitt 2021 All 105: DB Javon McIntyre

Published

on

All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of Pitt’s 2021 training camp roster.

38 • Javon McIntyre, freshman defensive back

Last Year: A senior in high school in 2020, McIntyre missed his swan song because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stats: McIntyre stands 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. As a junior in high school at Philadelphia’s prestigious Imhotep Charter, he made 53 tackles and recorded a scoop-and-score touchdown.

Camp outlook: The Panthers defensive back room is stocked full with young talent, with just three seniors out of the 23 players on the roster. McIntyre will need to wait in the wings as he attempts to prove himself.

Projected role: McIntyre will likely take a redshirt year, perhaps getting some special teams or mop-up duty.

Accolades, highlights: 247Sports rated McIntyre as a three-star recruit, even without the benefit of a senior season to prove himself, while ESPN called him the No. 14 prospect in Pennsylvania.
