On Friday, three-star point guard Sean Jones committed to Marquette.
While Jones included Pitt in his top three, Pitt had not been recruiting him ever since the program landed the commitment of guard Judah Mintz. Head coach Jeff Capel is mostly focusing his recruiting efforts for the point guard position on the 2023 class, and has already offered numerous highly-ranked point guards including London Johnson, Jacoi Hutchinson, Jaylen Curry, and Rodney Gallagher.
The 6-foot point guard Jones did visit Pitt earlier in the summer on an unofficial trip, and spoke highly of his time in the steel city afterwards.
“The Pitt coaches put together a great tour for me,” Jones told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “They really touched on everything and I met with everyone at the school except for the academic advisors today. I had a great time riding around the campus and seeing a lot of the historical stuff about the University of Pittsburgh like the Cathedral of Learning.”
