The 6-foot-8 center finished his career at Duquesne as the school’s all-time leader in career field goal percentage, hitting 56.2% of his shots over his three-year Dukes career. He also finished fourth on Duquesne’s all-time blocks list, with 177.

Petar Stazic Strbac, the club’s General Manager, issued a statement on the addition of Michael Hughes (roughly translated from release).
“I expect a lot from Michael Hughes,” he said. “He will be a very important factor in our team. In the past we had selected extremely good rookie players (note: Anthony Clemons, Jonathan Fairell), who then made a top European career and that I expect the same from Michael Hughes.”
