Kenny Pickett Named To Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

Kenny Pickett has been named to another college football preseason watch list.

On Thursday, the senior from New Jersey was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, which is given to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback that is set to graduate. Candidates for this award are chosen based on their performance both on and off the field.

Previous to today, Pickett has also been nominated to the watch list for the Maxwell Award (college football player of the year) and the Manning Award (top college quarterback). A group of college football writers, announcers, commentators and former players will narrow this group of players on the watch list for the semifinalists, finalists and the eventual award winner. The winner will be announced at the Golden Arm Award banquet on December 10 in Baltimore.

Pickett has a chance to break two Pitt all-time quarterback records this season. Alex Van Pelt is Pitt’s all-time leader in total offensive yards (11,148) and passing yards (11,267). With a highly productive final season, Pickett could surpass him as he currently sits with 8,552 total yards and 7,984 passing yards.

Pickett and Pitt open the season on September 4th when they host UMass at Heinz Field.

Gonna need to at least triple those 13 TD passes from last year to be a finalist.
