Reported first by Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 are expected to announce an alliance formation within the next few weeks.
Auerbach says the three Power-5 conferences could announce as early as next week.
The schools within the conferences want to prioritize academics and athletics, while having a broad and diverse competition offering.
Last Friday it was announced that the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 were in talks of aligning non-conference schedules together but it seems like it is much more than just scheduling games with each other. The domino effect in college football continues to fall. Looks like this is what the other Power-5 conferences are doing to counter Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC.

Is ND included? In all sports? If not, is this enough of an “alignment” to entice them to drop independent status in football ?
My knowledge of their situation is limited, but I googled Notre Dame rivalries and this could conceivably allow them to play all their rivals each year except Army and Navy. I heard once they liked having the freedom to play USC and Stanford.
ND is it’s own brand. It aligned most sports (not football nor men’s ice hockey) with the ACC because it was convenient. They won’t share their riches with any conference.
I’ll be interested to see what this means in practice. Pitt vs UCLA, battle of the sky blues & script helmets?
As long as WV is left out.
