Early in camp, Pat Narduzzi ended the topic of Pitt’s backup quarterback this season by announcing that it would be Nick Patti. The redshirt junior from Hillsdale, New Jersey will serve as the top backup to starter Kenny Pickett over Joey Yellen and Davis Beville.
Last season, Patti played in two games and completed 2 of 5 passes for 17 yards, while at times also serving as Pitt’s short yardage, goal-line quarterback. In the game against Florida State, Patti was used and scored two touchdowns (1 yard and 2 yard rush). In 2019, Patti played in six games and completed 26 of 43 passes for 301 yards with 3 touchdown passes and 1 interception.
Earlier this week, Patti spoke to the local media, including Pittsburgh Sports Now, about this role and the upcoming 2021 season for Pitt.
