Watch: Pitt Quarterback Nick Patti On Role and Upcoming Season

Published

on

Early in camp, Pat Narduzzi ended the topic of Pitt’s backup quarterback this season by announcing that it would be Nick Patti. The redshirt junior from Hillsdale, New Jersey will serve as the top backup to starter Kenny Pickett over Joey Yellen and Davis Beville.

Last season, Patti played in two games and completed 2 of 5 passes for 17 yards, while at times also serving as Pitt’s short yardage, goal-line quarterback. In the game against Florida State, Patti was used and scored two touchdowns (1 yard and 2 yard rush). In 2019, Patti played in six games and completed 26 of 43 passes for 301 yards with 3 touchdown passes and 1 interception.

Earlier this week, Patti spoke to the local media, including Pittsburgh Sports Now, about this role and the upcoming 2021 season for Pitt.

Can’t say I disagree but Bevile made huge strides in the Spring game. Joey Yellen is awful, not even mediocre

I guess I missed this.

Yellen is mediocre.

Ive always been a Beville fan – played well in spring game.

Patti – I just dont see it.

If I’m Beville – transfer portal here I come.

Great attitude, but I don’t think Patti is the man to take over for Kenny. I hope Beville shines in practice and can jump over Patti next year. A lot can happen in the course of a year!

as others have said … is Beville a potential transfer? I mean, jeez, if he doesn’t pass Patti this season, what are the odds he does it next season when he is a junior ? Why hang around and possibly get the nod your senior year ? I guess the same can be said for Yellen.
