Pitt Basketball Offers WPIAL’s Brightest Young Star, Alier Maluk

On Wednesday, Jeff Capel offered a scholarship to one of the most intriguing young prospects that Western Pennsylvania has seen in years.

Alier Maluk is a 6-foot-10 forward from Bethel Park, who now attends and plays hoops for Imani Christian Academy. Maluk is a part of the Class of 2025, which means this upcoming school year will be his first in high school. Although he is still that young, throughout this week, he has already seen his recruitment blow up.

According to his coach, Maluk picked up the offer from Pitt on Wednesday, and has also earned offers from Seton Hall, Texas A&M, and LSU. According to several reports, the youngster has also heard from Kentucky, Florida State, Georgia this week.

While Maluk has a very skinny frame, he is clearly one of the most skilled players in his class, and at this young of an age, the future is sure looking bright.

This past week, Maluk competed in the D Rich TV camp and put all of his skills on display for coaches, media, and the public. In fact, the highlight tape of his performance has already received over 60,000 views on YouTube in one day, and compares him to NBA player Bol Bol. In the video, Maluk showcased an elite outside jump shot as well as ball-handling ability that is unheard of for a player so young and so tall.

Hmmm. The way things are going, will Capel be here to coach the kid?
