The Pitt football team has their team captains for the 2021 season.

This honor is determined by members of the football team and after voting was conducted, Pat Narduzzi announced on Friday that 2021 Pitt captains would be quarterback Kenny Pickett, defensive end Deslin Alexandre, linebacker Cam Bright and long-snapper Cal Adomitis. All four of these players are seniors and none of these selections come as any surprise.

Pickett enters this season having started 36 games for the Panthers and currently ranks third all-time at Pitt with 8,522 total yards. Pickett is a preseason candidate for the Maxwell, Davey O’Brien, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and Manning Awards. Pickett has already earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and is enrolled in Pitt’s Katz Graduate School of Business.

Alexandre is a redshirt senior from Pompano Beach, Florida and will be looked upon to help fill the loss on the defensive line of Rashad Weaver and Patrick Jones, who both were drafted into the NFL. Alexandre has played in 37 career games at Pitt and recorded 61 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. Alexandre has already earned his bachelor’s degree in communication and is now enrolled in Pitt’s Katz Graduate School of Business.

Adomitis made the decision the decision to return to Pitt, after having been a starter for the last four seasons and has started 50 games. The Central Catholic graduate is generally regarded as one of, if not the best long snapper in the country. Prior to this season, Adomitis has been named a preseason first-team All-ACC long snapper by Phil Steele and an honorable mention All-American candidate. Last season, he was a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, which is presented to the nation’s top long snapper.
