Report: Pitt Target Dominick Barlow Commits to Overtime Elite

According to Travis Branham of 247 Sports, one of the highest-rising talents in the class of 2022, Dominick Barlow, has committed to Overtime Elite.

Over the course of the past few months, Pitt has been right near the top of every story regarding Barlow. Jeff Capel was the first high-major coach to offer Barlow, and was also the first and only college coach to host Barlow on an official visit.

Over the summer, Barlow exploded onto the national scene, picking up a handful of offers including Kansas, Florida, Syracuse, Ohio State, Illinois, and many more. While he was receiving all of those offers, he still stayed firm that he appreciated and valued Pitt’s long-term interest in him, which led many to think that Pitt would still be a major player in his recruitment. However, in the end, he chose to take a different path and skip the college route completely.

“Dominick is an exciting prospect that brings an unusual versatility on and off the ball, and on both ends of the court. He’s long, athletic, and brings that New Jersey toughness that’s driven his growth in recent years,” Brandon Williams, Head of Basketball Operations at Overtime Elite told 247 Sports. “Among amateurs and pros, Dominick has demonstrated an ability to elevate his game, guarding multiple positions, and aggressive playmaking. This is a strong addition to the OTE environment.”

Hard to pass up immediate money, plus he does not have to go to class.

Wow, what a surprise that Pitt sign this offered player. I guess Capel just missed out on this one.

OTE actually has an academic tie-in with Pitt for college credits if desired. They are promising money $100k/year plus part ownership, $100k towards college if you don’t go pro. There is a lot to like if you are a young talented player.

Intrigued by Pitt being the only University tie-in. Might be worth an article.
