Postgame Reaction from Confident Pitt Locker Room after UMass Rout

Published

PITTSBURGH — Games like Pitt’s season opener against UMass can be something of an emotional trap.

If Pitt beats UMass, well that’s what they’re supposed to do. If they lose, or even if it’s close, it’s a portent of a potential disaster.

One of the ways to prevent that lack of good feelings is to blow an opponent out, and while the Panthers certainly have things to clean up, a 51-7 victory over the Minutemen had the Pitt locker room feeling confident afterward.

“It’s hard to get a win anywhere,” sophomore wide receiver Jordan Addison said. “We’re just going to keep building off this and take the confidence into next week.”

Hear more from Addison, defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, tight end Lucas Krull, linebacker John Petrishen and quarterback Kenny Pickett:

What I want to see next week: ability to run the ball between the tackles.
What I don’t want to see next week: some defensive lineman’s helmet in Kenny Pickett’s chest.

What I want to see next week:

  1. A PITT WIN!!!
  2. CB’s not left on islands so much, chasing behind WRs
  3. Pickett running the ball a little more
  4. WRs not dropping the ball
